NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships 2017, 12 - 16 April, Hartpury Arena, Gloucestershire, GL19 3BE

Competitor Information

The championship welcomes over 800 horses and riders to compete over the course of the five days of competition. Please find below all the information that you should need for you and your horse's stay.

SHOWGROUND ACCESS

Horses may arrive on the showground from 12.30pm on Tuesday 11 April and the Showground Entrance will close at 11.30pm. 

Access to the showground will be open from 6.00am – 11.30pm on show days; with the exception that the entrance will close an hour after the completion of the compettiton on Friday & Saturday. Outside these hours the entrance will be opened for emergency access only.

Horses requiring stabling must arrive on the showground before 7.00pm. Should any competitor be delayed, they must contact the Stable Manager on 07779 788014. The Stable Managers office will open at 6.00am and close at 7.30pm each day.

Only horseboxes/trailers bringing horses and/or ponies intending to compete at the Championships will be admitted to the showground.

Cars without passes will not be admitted through the equine entrance into the show ground. All competitor cars must be parked in the designated car park sited on the main Hartpury College Campus and will not be permitted in the stable area or horsebox parking area.

STABLING

There will be 180 permanent stables plus temporary barn stables available on the showground at £35 per stable per night. Any damaged caused to stables will be charged to the hirer. Lighting is not provided in temporary stables.

It is understood by competitors that horseboxes / trailers may be parked some distance from the stables and it is understood that it may not be possible to park competitors who have more than one horsebox / trailer at the Championships in the same location.

Stable hire is from 3.00pm – 3.00pm (access from 12.30pm on Tuesday 11 April). Occupants are advised that stables must be vacated on time so that incoming horses may be stabled. Stables should be skipped out and left clean and tidy ready for the following occupant.

All horses will be balloted between permanent and temporary stables and it will be subject to the nights that stables are required rather than the date that stabling forms are received. Anybody requesting stabling for a horse not actually entered will be allocated temporary stabling for the companion and the horse entered. Notification will not be sent out to those allocated temporary barn stables. All stables must be applied for on official "Winter Championship Stable Forms" and paid for in advance. Stable Forms must be returned to the Entry Secretary, The Winter Championships, 62 Henry Road, Gloucester, Gloucestershire, GL1 3DY. Should space be available late stabling requests made after Wednesday 15 March may be accepted, however, they will be subject to an additional fee of £5 per stable per night. 

Horses may not be stabled in horseboxes / trailers. A competitor found stabling their horse / pony in such a way will be asked to leave the showground.

Any competitor who enters or makes use of any stable that has not been officially reserved for their use will be liable for the daily charge for that stable and an additional fine of £80 for that stable.

STABLE BEDDING

Although bedding may be in your stable allocated to the competitor from previous occupants, no bedding whatsoever is provided with the hire of the stable. Natural Flake Shavings may be purchased from the Stable Manager's Office at £6.50 per bag between 10.00am and 7.00pm. Straw is not permitted in the stables.

HORSEHAYLAGE RYE PRO

Horsehaylage Rye Pro will be available to purchase on site from the Stable Managers at £6 per bag during the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships between 10.00am and 7.00pm.

ELECTRICAL HOOK UP 

A limited number of 6amp electrical hook ups are available for horseboxes at a cost of £81 (inc. VAT) per hook up for the period that the Competitor is staying in the Show Ground. Competitors must have a 16amp (blue socket) extension cable to connect to the socket supplied by the Organiser. It is the responsibility of the Competitor to ensure that all their cables and electrical equipment comply with current electrical regulations. Competitors must ensure that all electrical items in their horseboxes have a current PAT Certificate. While the Organiser endeavour to supply the hook up booked the Organiser does not guarantee a constant supply throughout the Show, nor do we accept any responsibility for losses and / or discomfort occurring as a result of a break in the supply provided. Electrical connection must be booked on the Official Stable Form by 15 March 2017 and is on a strictly first come basis.

COMPETITOR CARAVANS & CAMPING

There is no charge to competitors or BD registered owners of horses competing at the Show who wish to camp or bring a caravan into the Show Ground. Competitors should indicate their intention to bring a caravan or tent on the Stable Form and should contact the Stable Manager upon arrival. Electric is not available for tents. Competitors agree that additional caravans, horseboxes or tents may not be sited next to the Competitors horsebox / horse trailer in which their horse / pony arrived at the Show Ground.

ARENA WALK EXCERCISE TIMES

All arena walk exercise times are subject to amendment, times will be posted outside the Show Secretary's Office and in the Stable Manager's Office. Competitors may only participate in arena walk exercise on the day that the horse is competing. Only horses competing on Wednesday may use the Tuesday walk exercise times for arena familiarisation. All horses must have a mounted rider and with the exception of the Para Walk Exercise Time, no horses may be led, whether with or without a mounted rider.

COMPETITION WARM UP ARENAS

Designated warm up arenas for each competition arena will be available for exercise from 2.30pm on Tuesday 11 April until 8.00pm, after which they are available from 6.40am each morning until one hour after the completion of competition each day.

From Wednesday onwards to avoid congestion, only competitors within approximately 1 hour 30 minutes of competing will be allowed to use the relevant warm up arenas during competition hours. Access to these warm up arenas may be available outside competition hours for general exercise.

GENERAL EXERCISE ARENA

A designated General Exercise Arena will be available for use by Competitors. Access will be available on a daily basis from 8.00am – 10.00am and 4.00pm – 7.00pm; however should a veterinary incident arise competitors will be asked to leave the arena.

All general exercise times are subject to amendment and times will be posted outside the Show Secretary's Office and in the Stable Manager's Office.
